Tavewa  03/09 - 03/18/2014

Most people who go on holiday to Fiji, hop from island to island. I make it without for two reasons. First, I 've done something similar in New Zealand and want a break. Secondly, I would then not be able to take the cheap ferry. I just want to relax here, so I'll stay nine days on Tavewa, even if there's not so much to do.

Sunrise at the Yasawa Islands. So we are almost there.

The hustle and bustle on arrival ...

... finds on this terrace quickly an end.

Even when my welcome song is denied because of my unusual arrival time.

The dorm. 20 beds but usually only staffed with about five people.

This is one of them: Yewgeni, a Russian, unfortunately, with very rusty English.

The resort beach. At high tide, there only remains ...

... only the lawn, which doesn’t really bother me ...

... because the hammock hangs well even over grass.

The meal time is always announced with drums.

Breakfast seems to taste well. (It really does. Simple , but okay.)

A nice experience at lunch: I'm not full and ask for a few more fries. The waiter is not allowed to give me some. Instead, she gives me secretly another complete meal.

In the evening they sometimes serve at the beach, ...

... and there is often food at it’s finest.

Here, for example Mongolian. World class.

There is also live music with constantly changing musicians. They seem really to have fun.

My favorite instrument, the Bula -Bass. A box with a board and a rope on it.

On Saturdays later follows a dance- ...

... and fire show. Many mistakes happen, but that makes it somehow more authentic.

When it rains, the whole thing takes place inside. So close to the tables that the sweat is seasoning.

Of course, the tourist animation must not miss.

What in the end is left. Our table.

They are also usually here: Djogo and Arielle, a great couple from Brazil.

The almost transparent fish directly on the beach are very trustful ...

... and hungry. (I'm sitting on the beach!)

With the glass bottom kayak I go ...

... through the crystal clear sea ...

... to the Blue Lagoon.

The corals that you can see here. (The fish are unfortunately scared by the boat.)

On the way back I get lost a bit and go almost to the open sea.

A coconut presentation. Actually quite interesting, but the Fiji falls almost asleep while talking.

Quite the opposite at Volleyball. The Fiji can do it really well and have fun – so do I.

Island problems. When the lawn mower is broken, it needs at great expense to be brought to the mainland.

That’s quite tempting. 5 minutes free lesson.

Here too, of course, one drinks kava. However, also as a circus version if tourists are involved.

The next tour to the Blue Lagoon. (Particularly known for the 80s porn with Brooke Shields.)

This time with a proper boat and thus without danger to get lost. First, I see no fish again, ...

... because they all hide under the boat.

To enjoy this sight up close, ...

... I only have to dive in and lure them with a piece of bread.

Otherwise, the animal world has not much to offer here. A butterfly pack, ...

... a praying mantis that moves in Bula-beat, ...

... and a pretty yellow bee-thing.

But the highlight is and remains the mysterious dog, who has left this slot.

Especially because it looks pretty normal elsewhere.

These pictures are by the way from the other side of the island.

And this time it’s really so empty – no photographer-trick.

Plant aren’t very special either. A chic banana tree.

Fiji Cooking: Lovo. The ingredients are smoked in the soil. Tastes well.

From time to time it rains, fortunately. (Not only because of the rainbow!)

Another trip. We goe on a sandbank.

The so-called Suntan Beach. Works.

Last evening. Hotel Boss Nico takes us out to a turtle. All have to be quiet.

Suddenly an employee jumps out and yells the usual Bula. Well done.

It's over. Again, there is no song for me, because of the ferry-schedule.

Departure to the so-called mainland. Hopefully there’s no wave, ...

... when someone has to go to the bathroom.
