Mana  03/19 - 03/23/2014

In contrast to the ferry with almost triple the price we get tea and biscuits for breakfast and curry for lunch.

With the bus I'm going back to Nadi before ...

... I very spontaneously (reaction time = 20 minutes) start to another island the next morning.

The sea is quite rough and I don’t get seasick again. Maybe I'm finally immune?

Only 45 minutes later we arrive at Mana.

Much simpler and cheaper than Coral View on Tavewa.

Otherwise everything as usual.

My 4 bed dorm, which I only have to share with a dutch girl (Djura).

The mattresses are something for die-hards.

She also seeks an accommodation, ...

... but fortunately feels more comfortable in another room.

The common room.

And there is actually a community. All play together Werewolf.

Sad but true: It's nice when the internet is not free, because then - and only then - the smartphone often makes place for direct communication. It may sound melodramatic, but I look forward with concerns to a future in which the web is completely free everywhere. For the sake of completeness it should be mentioned that we are experiencing evenings with a great atmosphere and lots of laughter.

The beach of the neighboring resort. Trespassing forbidden, but - here I am.

A few hermit crabs want to get rid of their status and celebrate an orgy.

We walk across the runway of the local airport ...

... to the so-called Sunset Beach.

Let's snorkel.

Yes, tiny. But it’s a leopard-ray. Allegedly rare, so he stays here.

These are corals and fish of all snorkel spots on Mana. I can’t attach them properly any more.

I'm probably deeper than I thought.

Later Inka (FIN) organizes a collective camera bath in fresh water.

Because of professional curiosity, I visit the local school.

The professors  room. Somehow I feel already a longing. Kidding.

Here it’s really true. I want to play in the Klotze again.

Okay, not too bad, too. The Survivor Beach.

Daunting.

But more worth to see.

It  probably spoils his appetite. He catches the bird, snaps his neck - and simply lets it lie on the beach.

That would never happen to our hostel dog. He begs permanently.

More animals. Bed bugs. The victim wants to kill them on the tin roof.

Other dead animals: The seafood platter (about 60 €), which our Polish honeymoon couple orders additionally to the regular dinner.

Prelude to the evening dance, in which first the gay employee steals the main actor the show, ...

... before the former - thanks to the hyperactive children - suffers the same fate.

The last evening for many of us. Photos are appraised and vigorously discussed ...

... or laughed at.

The girl on the right is my roommate Djura. She has madeher diving license in the hustle and bustle and already packed her bags - until she finds out that she has booked one day more.

Mi Tu is amused by her own name (pronounced “me too”).

And our japanese girl paints characters. This is mine and means (allegedly!) fantastic horse. :-)

The next day we only have time for a tour around the island. Yes, it’s a very small island.

The beaches you know already, so there are only a few rocks now.

This is it, the moment in which I hear the first farewell song for me (and others).

Then it's bye bye Mana.

And at the same evening bye bye Fiji.

Fiji is a great place to relax and snorkel. That's what I wanted and exactly what I got. And as toppings a dose insight into the local Indian culture and some very nice encounters with people of many different nations. And it were again travelers and tourists of almost all ages like for example in Eastern Europe. Actually, I don't need Hawaii any more for recreation. Actually ...
